New writers starting on screenplays wonder how to write a screenplay. (You can learn all this in a screenwriting contest) There are simple rules to follow to write a screenplay successfully. Writing a magazine story or a newspaper article is vastly different from writing a screenplay. The main difference in a screenplay is that apart from the main storyline and theme there is greater emphasis on visual aspects of the plot. Screenplay often contains detailed instructions on how the story looks when made into a film. It is more of telling a story pictorially. All aspects of visualizing the story are described in detail in the screenplay, the colors, the environment, character outlook, etc. The story maybe as simple as an interaction in a classroom between students and a teacher but details on how the campus looks, the students and professorsí attire, time of day of scene, the classroom description, etc., make the screenplay that much more interesting and challenging to imagine and write.
