I currently have the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker system, and glad I do, as they are crystal clear, which helped
a lot, after figuring out the best method for optimizing sound performance. The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 , with only
the 2 satellite speakers really helped balance the sound around the entire room the best. Computer Speaker systems seem very different when placed in a larger room rather compared to more compact spaces. Typically this is labeled the acoustics from the area alone , similar to a living room, you will find a variety of objects that the sound may bounce off , and distort or block the sound. So a balanced setting of furnishings can play an important role, to get optimum performance from your computer speaker system.
The second sensitive point is the placement of speakers in the given areas, whether you have a 5.1, our easier setup like my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers . I use to just setup on my bookshelves, aim and fire, but after really looking , and listening I was simply amazed at how the bookshelves were not the way to go, it created a vibration, trapped the sound somewhat between shelving, and was set at the wrong height all together. This seems really simple, but in fact I was missing out on 20-30% optimized sound performance, which is great enough for some to choose whether you need a 2.1, or larger 5.1, so follow a few simple principles, and possibly save some cash…!
The third major contributor for the best or worst setup conditions, are Speaker Stands plus positioning. Once I realized the bookshelf was not helping, it was attempting to figure what would work best. I found the speaker stands are a great sound performance help, allowing for the speaker positioning to easily be achieved. Not only is the speaker height critical, but angle, which means tilting, up-down, or right-left. Just the stands alone, helped dial the sound, balance, and achieve great sound performance. You can get a meter to help balance this, but I found with help of a few friends, it was fun, and very good, small adjustments, real time feedback without running about on your own, and that made all the difference getting the very most out of just the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 computer speakers I have.
After this fine tuning, it was easy to see, and hear that the 2.1 were all I needed after all, and at one point before these adjustments, I figured the speakers needed an upgrade, more costs, etc., so this was a pleasant surprise in many ways. Later with some other tweaking, distance did in fact play a major role, it has all come together. In fact with my large desktop monitor, I can sit on the sofa, watch a movie, and it really delivers some great sound effects, just with the 2.1 speakers. So if you want peak performance, and to save some bucks, consider a tune-up of your current speaker system, it may not be as poorly performing as you may think, plus all depends on your desire and budget.
